This small gem , created in 1904 as one of the Andrew Carnegie-sponsored libraries, is my favorite concert venue

My favorite part of this lovely old , intimate library is their classical music concerts (now about quarterly) .A large glass dome and original wood paneling contribute to fantastic and resonant acoustics, and the performers are always world-class musicians. To me there is nothing like hearing small string ensembles or an old sonorous piano from 15- feet away! Worth planning... More

I always like to find out (in person not through a travel guide) the culture of a place that I'm visiting. One of the best ways is to find a local museum dedicated to the history and lore of the locale. When I first came to Petaluma, I found an excellent example of this in the Petaluma Historical Library &... More

Had a great time at the Petaluma Historical Library and Museum, learned so much about the town and its cultural history! The upstairs exhibit is completely free, my girlfriend and I had a great time learning about the Pioneers of Petaluma. They don't make people like that anymore! Even the building itself is a piece of history, constructed after the... More

Just the architecture alone is worth the trip to visit this historic site! Beautiful white columns and staircase lead to this old classic library from a by-gone era. It's like taking a step back in time when there was "NO" electronics, just "BOOKS"! Classic old tables, chairs and light fixtures. History section with old photos. Hugh selections.

So in step with the lovely historic Petaluma architecture. Quaint small town museum that offers local and other artifacts. Again, the architecture is delightful. Highly recommend. Continue strolling out into the neighborhood and you'll get a idyllic MGM style small town experience.

My 13 year son and I visited this together. We were met by a wonderful volunteer who gave us just enough information about the venue from a local perspective. We stayed about 1 hour and then headed down the street to the most excellent smoothie bar. It was just enough time to meet the strict 2 hour street parking limit.... More

It's a small western town museum, so I kind of have some expectations in mind but it turned out to be a nice surprise. Apparently, Petaluma used to be an egg capital of California back in the days. That brought some wealth, which followed by beautiful buildings and some fun events. It also has an interesting exhibition dedicated to the... More

This building is over 100 years old and so beautiful inside and out. Lots of history inside including a small gift shop.
