This was a very short (about 10 minutes one way) and very easy walk/hike. Everyone talks about the Devils post pile and this is a smaller version of the same. The natural column like stone formations were interesting to see. If you are in the...More

Easy paved walking path with great scenery and educational posts along the way. Unchallenging for all ages. Stop and enjoy a lunch at the picnic tables before or after the quick walk up to the Columns of the Giants. Definitely worth the quick stop!

If you're coming up from the west and can't make it to Mammoth and Devils Postpile, this is a good substitute. Forest Service has created a short walk to view a unique geological formation which will give an hour's enjoyment

We took the 1/4 mile hike to Columns of the Giants. There is an informational sign at the start of the trail. The forest walk is nice to take on the way to see the basalt columns.

So this is what the trees were like before logging. Its nce to see how things were before everything got cut down 100 years ago. Glad they kept this area intact.

Not far from the road. I think its accessible in the late spring, summer and fall. Check on winter. Make sure you bring a pack with snacks and plenty of water. The rock forms are neat to see.

Stop and give yourself a welcome break enjoying this sight.. Not worth a special trip, given how many stunning places are so close, but worth a stop if you are in the area. If you are relaxing, take a chair and settle down with a...More
