Picturesque, scenic spot to taste some fine wine and enjoy your picnic. This was the first winery on my daughter's first wine tasting tour - and the staff was so welcoming and inviting, helping a neophyte learn a bit about wine and wine tasting. The location, the scenery, the tasting experience make this a small but friendly winery a great... More

Amador County continues to provide amazing wine offerings throughout the area. Story is my new favorite between the wine, awesome views and fantastic customer service you cannot go wrong here. We came on a Saturday afternoon with our friends from the Bay Area. Peter greeted us right away and suggested we sit at a table on the patio deck to... More

Winemaker Brian happened to be conducting a tasting (with hors d'oeuvres from Taste) the night we were there. It is lovely wine, especially the Primitivo. We ended up buying a mixed case and he brought it back that night and it was delivered to our room, so didn't go to the winery.

Small out of the way winery. We love sitting under the oak trees with a picnic lunch overlooking the gorgeous valley. Wines are mostly red and nice

I have always been curious about this winery, as it was one turn earlier than my usual place in Plymouth, so one day, we turned in. What a surprise! The facilities are simple, with a cozy tasting room in the back, but the patio looks out over a beautiful valley and mountains. The wines were good, and everyone was friendly.

You go to Story for the views, picnic areas and some wines are okay. I found most of them too light for my taste.

Next time you're in the Shenandoah Valley, go down Bell Rd. (off of Shenandoah Valley Rd.) a mile or so to Story Winery, at the end of the pavement. It's a small lovely rustic winery, with wonderful views of the foothills, nice picnic facilities, and very friendly folks operating the winery and pouring the wines. The pours are generous, the... We hadn't been to Story for over 10 years. We stopped by to see how close the Sand fire had come to the property. It had come 100 yards or closer to their tasting room. While there we tried their reds! Wow! The Primitivo and Picnic Hill Zin were amazing. Pretty much everything we tried was wonderful. We joined their... More

At the end of the road, overlooking the Consumnes River valley and the surrounding foothills, the location is spectacular. The tasting room is quaint and folksy, and the hosts are always personable and welcoming. When we visited 10 years ago, we were able to watch the first crush of the season, and one of the growers invited me up into... More

The wines were enjoyable if unremarkable. They have a nice facility with an excellent view. I felt the wines were very drinkable, but nothing to make them stand out from the many good wines in the area.
