This was really just lovely. Grounds are stunning, interesting mini movie about the history of Sunnylands, and cool though minimal art display. While I just visited the basic tour area, you can for 21$ take a shuttle around the actual home grounds and book a tour of the house. I am told booking this tour is popular and needs to... More

i did manage to score one of those RARE tours of the house and gardens, and boy, was it worth it to see this special piece of historical space.! Walter and Lee Annenberg were diplomats in their own right, and the DC President's, celebrities, and important guests that visited is quite impressive. The house is maintained in the decor of... If you go to the Sunnylands garden you get to see a beautiful new building, a very immature garden (not the house and grounds), and a movie. I would only go on days where you have access to the estate (special tickets or tours).

A treasure to behold, even if you're unable to secure a (rare-as-hen's-teeth) ticket to tour the home, because the Visitors Centre and the Landscaped grounds are exquisite examples of great taste and simplicity.

Back in l974 I oohed and aahed along with Prince Charles, the young heir to the British throne, when we went along to Walter and Lee Annenberg's "little" desert oasis (200 acres) in the middle of the Southern California desert. Charles was a naval officer and Annenberg the outgoing British ambassador to Britain. Charles played golf on the private 9... More

This is a must for first timers. Take the guided tour if possible but sometimes hard to schedule on short notice.

Proud of having hosted many Presidents for retreats and diplomatic conferences over the years, it's hard to imagine the incoming POTUS landing here instead of his tacky Mar-a-Lago. Entrance to this tasteful 200+ acre garden, vacation home and conference centre is free although you would have to pay for some of the more elaborate tours. The tour of the house... More

A wonderful garden and house however the house requires advance tickets which are difficult to obtain. The gardens and walks are fantastic. There is a wonderful Labyrinth too. Not open every day so check in advance.

This is our 3rd visit to Sunnylands, but the first time we've been on the 45 minute open air tour. There is one tour per hour and the large golf cart only seats 8. The cost is $20. We were lucky to get same day tickets. The tour travels on a path all the way around the estate. You only... More

This was the vacation home of Walter and Leanore Annenberg, wealthy philanthropists, art collectors, ambassadors, and friends of the rich and famous. It is a stunning, spacious, sprawling place located on 1,000 acres and surrounded by its own private golf course. The views of the mountains from every window are spectacular. The furnishings are all original, an exquisite blend of... More
