Sacramento RR Museum is worth it! Up close and personal with the machines that built the West. It is the place where cinema meets up close and personal.

We love to take our family or friends who visit from out of town to themRailroad Museum. California, especially Sacramento has such a rich history and the museum does a great job of showing these stages-for development.

One of the highlights of any visit to the Sacramento area is this museum and the whole Old Sacramento area. Many, many things to see and do, even in the off-season.

Our twin boys love this place, you can’t go wrong in finding a place that kids love and keep parents entertained as well. Who doesn’t love trains. They get hands on experience and learn about trains history at the same time. Every time we visit...More

This museum is a train lover’s paradise. The collection of locomotives and traincars are wonderfully placed in creative environments. The toy train collection captures the essence of the hobby. This is railstuff— past, present, and future. It’s a remarkable place.

Yes this museum is massive and all indoors. The area where the actual trains are is kind of like a huge garage/warehouse type of structure, but again it is all enclosed. I have visited more than once in the winter and don't... More

I walked through it with my 5 year old grandson. He went through parts of it twice. We also watched the short movie and shopped in the gift store. It took about 2 hours, but you might not love it as much as we did! But, you... More

No, this museum is not a working railroad. However, the Amtrak to the bay is located about 1/2 mile from the Museum...and that will get you to/from SF in one day. Uber/Lyft from museum to Amtrak is only $7!
