The American River Bike Trail provides those of us in the region with a slice of Eden as it winds through oak forests and pleasant meadows. There is always wildlife to be seen, from coyotes to red-tailed hawks to deer to rabbits to herons, to salmon, etc. Nature provides constant surprises, whether you're biking or walking. Currently the river has... More

This is great bicycle trail system. There are miles of trail, lots of great scenery and lots of parks and open space to stop at on the way. This very safe place to ride away from trafic. Parts of the are not accessible in the winter.

Experience the natural beauty of 30+ miles of bicycle trail along the American River. The trail is accessible from different entry points along the way. During all seasons, you will see different vegetation and wildlife. Near Hazel Avenue is the fish hatchery. Some of the trail is flat or gently rolling, and the ride gets challenging as Folsom Lake is... More

This is a very scenic and pleasant trail to walk or bike. It has a lots of trees and vegetation around it and views of the river at many places. I saw some wild turkeys crossing the trail. It has well maintained restrooms and benches to rest along the trail. I always enjoy riding my bike on this trail.

The trails are closed and flooded. The parkway is closed to cars and bikes. You can walk on the levee and see some amazing changes in the Parkway.

I love this place. In fact, I believe it is the best single feature in the entire city. I'm almost an every-day cyclist and this it my go-to ride. I usually pedal about 20-25 miles a day--round trip the path is about 65 miles--more in the spring and fall, and although I usually join the ARBT at the same place... More

The American River Bike Trail is a Sacramento treasure of which most visitors are unaware. Running parallel to the American River from downtown all the was to the town of Folsom, it offers peaceful shady stretches, scenic views of the river, and lots of chances to spot flora and fauna. Most of the trail is flat enough for easy cycling,... More

The trail is well loved for strolling, running, cycling. There are many parks along the trail for families to picnic or just to relax. It is a wonderful way to commute to work as well, as it can be accessed from so many spots. I would say I have seen so much wildlife--turkeys, coyotes, rabbits, birds, deer--as well as lovely... Bicycles have the right of way. Many are considerate. Please stay to the edge. Bicyclists will ride around you, listen for callouts (On your Left) so you do not get run over. There are trails on both sides of the river. Take your bug spray & enjoy your jog, walk or ride. Horses are regulars in the Orangevale area of... More

This trail is accessible from many locations and goes on forever. It is nice and flat with some small hills here and there. There is lots of greenery around and birds.
