Took my wife down here because she had never been in the capitol building. It's a beautiful old building that's been restored to its original grandeur. There are galleries to look on both sides of Congress. It cost nothing to go in and enjoy the...More

If you have never visited the California State Capitol, you should definitely attend one of the free guided tours. We spent one hour and a half going through the building, learned a lot about the history of California and the design choices made when the...More

This building is rich in history and exquisite architectural detail. Everything from the inlaid tile floors ti the staun-glassed dome is in immaculate condition. I highly recommend visting the California State Capital building.

It can be as quick or as long as you like but make time to see this. The building is beautiful, full of history; we missed the tour, that was disappointing but looked around ourselves.

Paintings of both these larger than life figures on the same wall was worth the visit. Vintage preserved offices and Senate chamber also noteworthy. Hard to find parking though..maybe use a parking app to reserve.

From the collection of trees on the capitol grounds to the historical rooms and portraits of past governors it is a great tour. Avoid the school children that tour during the weekdays by stopping by on the weekends.

Brought a visiting friend here, because one never visits the places where one lives otherwise, and we had a lovely time. The little historical library was fascinating with it's beautifully displayed vintage volumes and the short film, narrated by Burgess Meredith (the Penguin!) was very...More
