You'll love the lush interior except for the majority of the seating that has less leg room than a Boeing 727 jet. So pick your Film Festival (2-28 through 3-12) movies accordingly on the days you see 3 or 4 movies - for comfort. Suggest...More

Historic building - really beautiful architecture. Maybe best of all, fresh baked cookies and concessions with very reasonable prices.

Fun for events like Cinequest and special movies. Comfortable. Handicapped accessible. Parking in San Jose can be a challenge but there are a number of lots nearby.

The California Theatre is a great theatre for live performances and film. There is a huge amount of seating both on the floor and in balconies. The architecture is nice, and sometimes they raise the organ up from underneath the stage for pre-show playing.

This review has been influenced by a terrific Symphony Silicon Valley performance in this theater, but the facility is a terrific venue for such performances. The acoustics are good, the sight lines even at the edge of the main floor are reasonable, and seating is...More
