Beautiful views on the drive up to the Castle and again on the way back to the visitor center. We got to see the Kitchen area, the rooms downstairs and the Roman Pool. So many pieces of art to view and take in. We also watched the film which gives a little more background on the Hearst family and what... More

This is a stunning property. Unfortunately the outdoor pool was being refurbished but we saw everything else we could.

Hey, this was a great stop along the way. Stayed at the hotel on the shore, sat in the hot tub and enjoyed he scenery on the ride. The tour at $25 was not my idea at all. In fact I was down right against it. Turned out to be pretty interesting and since the wife was happy, the ride... More

We went on the grand rooms tour and I have to say apart from the stunning scenery on the way up by coach to the "Castle" I felt disappointed with the actual tour. It only allowed you to see 3 or maybe 4 rooms at most. Our tour guide was very cheery and knowledgeable but it just felt quite overpriced... More

They offer four tours. We enjoyed the public rooms tour and the bedrooms tour. With the 40 minute movie, we were there for five fascinating hours. Clearly this is a must see attraction. It should not be missed.

You park at the visitors centre and are taken to the castle by bus. I was a little discouraged to see portable toilets at the visitors centre which they explained was due to drought conditions. However they were spotless. The bus journey up the hill is a bit of a thrill ride as you wind your way up the hill.... More

This is our second visit to Hearst Castle so we decided to take the cottages and kitchen tour. We were able to see two of the cottages including the one Hearst lived in several times during his life. The cottages are beautiful and the guide shared several stories about famous individuals who had stayed in each. The kitchen area was... More

Loved the tour of the castle by a very informative guide. Time well spent enjoying this castle. Interesting stories and a glimpse into the past.

We took our kids to California over Christmas...started in San Francisco and drove down the coast to Los Angeles. I basically copied the same trip my parents had taken my sister and I on 30 years ago. So, as I had done in the 1980's, we stopped at Hearst Castle and thrilled we did. I forgot just how amazing this... More
