After a tour of Hearst Castle, we decided to stop at the Winery to take a bottle to our hostess for our next night's stay in San Francisco. Tasted a couple and bought a nice red that we sampled. Very helpful staff person.

Not really great wines to sum it up. Most of the them were young and needed aging. Really the only decent bottle was the Cabernet Sauvignon from the Proprietor's Estate... that was about $100 per bottle for what should be a $50 - $60 wine....More

And that's really all you can ask for from a winery tasting room, isn't it? Okay, throw in some good music, rustic wall coverings and all that. The Hearst tasting room is very atmospheric as befitting it's location on the edge of the 73,000 acre...More

After the Hearst Castle tour, we drove across Cal 1 to the tasting room (two minutes). Tasted 5 wines, and decided to purchase a glass of white and red to go along with lunch (purchased at Sebastian's Café). Wine and lunch were yummy. Highly recommended.
