Having visited this museum infrequently for over 30 years, I decided it was time to return. Surprise! I knew they sponsored a rescued raptor project, YET I was fascinated to be within feet of these amazing birds as they perched on branches and the wrists...More

This little museum provides a good look at the natural history of the Santa Barbara area, as well as a good introduction to the local flora and fauna. The section on the history of the Chumash, the native American tribe that lived in the area...More

I planned this visit so we could attend the Planetarium show. What a disappointment, very unprofessional. The man who spoke had a cough, his laser pointer didn't work and I really didn't learn much, he seemed very dis-jointed in his information. Perhaps the non working...More

My boy loved the sea animal room and the butterfly room along with the outdoor area. There's a good number of subjects covered. If you want a sob story read about the Chumach in the native peoples room.

The "Butterflies Alive" and the "T-Rex named Sue" were my two favorite exhibits in 2016. The Museum was also hosting a pottery exhibit and several other fantastic things to see and do. A truly wonderful way to spend a day or more.

Hi there, we're very sorry to hear you had a poor experience. The Museum is very sought after for school field trips to help educate students about the Chumash, local marine life, and their natural surroundings. We are a 100 year old institution and realize...More

We're from out of state and came here with family and young kids. We loved it. From the ginormous whale out in front to the different buildings with new adventures inside. It was worth the trip to visit in the morning and then venture to...More

We decided to go the museum because we had planned a quick vacation in Santa Barbara and the weather was looking grim. The museum itself sits up in the hills behind the Mission. It is composed a variety of California Mission buildings with lovely open...More
