A compact treasure indeed. We visited this museum in April 17 and it is worth a visit. The children section by David Wiesner is wonderful. It aroused the child in me. My wife and I ,both in sixties were immediately drawn in by the fantastic journey into unknown. The curator was very kind to take us around and we were... More

There is a fair amount of construction going on, and many apologies made for the reduced representation of the museum's collection but we found it charming and interesting and were particularly taken by the special exhibit of David Wiesner's works, including a very innovative section with computers and tablets to engage in the artist's work on wordless storytelling. Fascinating. And... More

While some of the museum is under some construction, we still throughly enjoyed our first visit. We took a free tour and Micky gave us a whole new perspective on some of the different exhibits. What a gem in SB!!

With a little time to spare on a Saturday afternoon, I wandered into the SBMA, and I was glad I did. It's intimate - don't go expecting the Met - but that's kind of nice, as you won't leave you feeling fatigued or overwhelmed. I had the good fortune to visit during an exhibition of the work of David Wiesner,... More

I have visited the Santa Barbara Museum of Art several times over the years. This is a real treat to visit because this museum features fine exhibits and beautiful art for everyone's taste from ancient to modern. The last time I was there, I got to see many "big name" works from the Impressionist era, such as Pissarro and Van... More

The exhibit is limited. We specifically wanted to see what is claimed to be the best exhibit of Monet's in the West. Because the exhibit is so limited now there were only two! Go back when the renovations are completed.

Thought for a small museum they wouldn't have much. I was so wrong. Delightful museum with some wonderful pieces. Lovely setting. Don't miss it

Our family recently visited this museum for the first time, specifically to see the David Weisner exhibit, which I can't recommend highly enough (it runs through May of 2017). It's a wonderful setup for families, especially families that have enjoyed his exquisite books for children prior to visiting. We were also highly impressed with the permanent installations at the museum... More

Even though we are locals, we only recently explored this museum. It isn't big, but they offer so many classes/resources to our community. Free evenings, free activities for kids, talks, lots of spring break and summer camp options.
