The fig tree is just behind the train station and is quite a sight to see. Its branches spread very wide and the trunk is huge.

You would be barking mad to leaf Santa Barbara without seeing this Tree! We were so lucky to bump into relatives (cousins Paddy Lee and Dannie Soo). This tree literally helped us find our roots! Thus, fig-uratively speaking, theres more historee here than you can...More

My ten year old nephew really liked the story behind the Moreton Bay Fig Tree. A little girl planted a seed and it grew to be the biggest Fig Tree in the U.S.A. many years ago. It really is just a drive by, but worth...More

Some history of Santa Barbara. Largest Bay Fig Tree in the US. Go and also see the old train wagon nearby.

It's in an interesting place - next to the train station. But the tree itself is just worth a few minutes to read the blurb.

I have lived here all my life. The Moreton Bay Fig Tree has always been a focal point and landmark of Santa Barbara, even when the freeway had a traffic light! This tree has endured through the years as a prime photo op for visitors,...More

Go and see this tree. It such an amazing tree. You won't believe it. It was gifted to the USA and it is very old, but the roots and just the whole tree is an experience. Just go see it.

Walking down the street, our family saw this tree and all we thought was "that is a big tree!". The boys wanted to climb it. Hell, I wanted to climb it. Didn't see any signs on our side saying we couldn't but I figured it...More

You will find this fig tree in the mission. It's very pretty. But directly underneath it is the skeletons of native people who died in this area. It is very sad. A sad reflection of american and australian culture.
