It's worth the short photo opt and history lesson for 2 historical locations in one. See the Fig Tree and right next to it is the retired Southern Pacific Santa Barbara SP142 Train. The tree is magnificent and there is a plaque to read the...More

Always love to see a special tree and this one was a beauty - spectacular. It is huge - the reach of it incredible, and its width. It's not even that old - planted in 1876. Love it.

Huge magnificent tree. Truly unbelievable how big it is. Worth a trip since it will be on your way to main attractions anyway.

Going through Santa Barbara with family that had never been here, we had to stop and show them this incredible tree. They had never seen anything like it. The root system is something you have to see to believe and the canopy is massive. Don't...More

This tree is amazing! I was skeptical when it came up on a list of things to see, but so glad we stopped! It’s huge, I’ve never seen anything like it. It’s free and quick, so it’s worth stopping for.

The fig tree is just behind the train station and is quite a sight to see. Its branches spread very wide and the trunk is huge.

You would be barking mad to leaf Santa Barbara without seeing this Tree! We were so lucky to bump into relatives (cousins Paddy Lee and Dannie Soo). This tree literally helped us find our roots! Thus, fig-uratively speaking, theres more historee here than you can...More

My ten year old nephew really liked the story behind the Moreton Bay Fig Tree. A little girl planted a seed and it grew to be the biggest Fig Tree in the U.S.A. many years ago. It really is just a drive by, but worth...More
