This massive tree is a little hard to find (just west of the downtown railway station on a dead-end street), but it's well worth the diversion. It's seen a lots of years, and has a very interesting history, which is provided on plaques surrounding it....More

It's rare a single tree can demand this much attention. It's sheer size commands respect and shows that even individual pieces of nature are worth preserving. Parking is available inadjacent lots or free on the street. Mind the napping transients in the area.

How can you rate a tree!?? It's a grand old master of a tree, located in an odd place, next to the train station, the highway, and a fair amount of homelessness. She's a beauty.

You'll love it. A giant tree that almost met its demise, but for some wise individuals. The kids will love clambering around under it. A great landmark.

The tree is really beautiful just by the freeway. Notice the enormous roots.

This was the residential address for many homeless when I lived in Santa Barbara. The (Australian) tree itself is spectacular, and the surrounding area looks cleaner than it did years ago.
