Fascinating room with Santa Cruz history, plus fun other exhibits

Much about the ethnic and cultural history of the Santa Cruz area, with very interesting objects. The special exhibits were interesting as well. I stayed more than an hour.

First Friday of every month is free admission at the MAH. Fun to see what they are working on. Strangely, they sell you wine, but when you want to walk around to see the exhibits, they ask you to leave it on an unguarded table or go out on the terrace to finish it. Remembering it's a significant risk to... More

I adore this museum, especially on Friday nights when it holds its unique and interactive events. Over five years ago it was a sleepy and traditional museum, until the new director came in and breathed new life into it. It is a new breed of museum, with inclusive and cutting edge events. Every time I go, I see or learn... More

I went to an event there that was billed as all-ages. I didn't realize that it was mainly directed at teenagers. They said that there would be tickets at the gate. The event was sold out and no information was given about how to buy advance tickets.

As the name implies it is an art museum and a history museum; and it does both well.I visited MAH on a cloudy March Thursday afternoon and had the place to myself. I had space to photograph and indulge in the current exhibit. I enjoyed learning more about the area I have moved to as well as expand my appreciation... More

This wonderful institution has been a key part of the downtown scene for over a decade. There are a variety of static and rotating exhibits that explore the are and history of Santa Cruz country. I have learned a ton about the city in which I grew up, and I appreciate that they are so lovelingly integrated into the city.... More

A community gathering place as much as an art showcase, this is a Santa Cruz Cultural BEST. First Fridays are especially a blast here!

a cute little museum with some santa cruz history and some local artists. On occasion they have featured some local artists whose work has merit.

Came to the museum to see the historic Hawaiian surfing exhibit and found a full blown dahlia flower show going it. It was such a great surprise. This is not your typical stuffy museum. I have the feeling that events are happening here all the time. The Hawaiian surf exhibit was great but I was really captivated by the dahlias.... More

Great, exhibits with opportunities to contribute. We saw "Dear Jerry" and "Three Princes from Hawaii." Also an ecological, interactive display.
