Fun, historic, atmospheric.

Beware of drug addicted locals. Average attraction for families with adolescents. I would not recommend for young children due to the drug scene and some squalid conditions.

I halfway expected to see NCIS: LA characters here. Clean, safe, with great street performers and good vendors.

Firstly, it is fun and historic and atmospheric, but I would strongly advise you to keep your senses on high alert, this doesn't feel like a safe location. There are lots of beggars and street hawkers from the moment you hit the pier complex from Ocean Avenue. Having said that there are so many tourists around that it gave me... More

My 5 year old was dying to come here to go on the merry go round and even though fog consumed the view it was everything we expected and more.

The pier is a requisite tourist stop, but why? Sure, there is a roller coaster, otherwise I recommend just sun bathing on the beach or renting a bike and rolling down the path. The pier was super crowded on Sunday and the food was subpar carnival food or tourist franchised. (Bubba Gump Shrimp). Don't get me wrong. I recommend visiting... More

The pier is a great place for a view and a few fun rides. The arcade is pretty old and the games are worn as well but a fun experience.

After spending some time in the LA area, evething begins to look the same. Just more shops selling tourists the same thing you see in any city. The beach looked nice and the view of the land was nice. Only spent about 30 min here and that was long enough.

The pier is an entertaining destination. Prices are a little high, but it's fun to people watch. I personally believe that this is more entertaining if you have children with you. It's a bit on the dirty side which is why I gave it a two. If you haven't been, one should stop and decide for yourself.

Lovely pier worth a visit as part of touring the area. Fairground rides and restaurants available although I did not try them.

Cute iconic area to check out. We went way to early in the morning and almost everything was closed. So we returned at midday and things were a lot more active. Food options were good and plenty of activities for families as well as a bar for adults. Great views

Staying in Santa Monica

Neighbourhood Profile
Santa Monica
Santa Monica is a coastal town that maintains a balance as a tourist destination and as an area with a thriving local culture. On the beach, bikers, roller-bladers, runners and walkers move along the famed bike path enjoying the beautiful Los Angeles weather. The solar-powered Ferris wheel at the Santa Monica pier spins high above the water, while park revelers scream with delight riding the roller coaster. Inland from the beach, Third Street Promenade bustles with shoppers and street performers, where every block seems to have a musical or acrobatic act drawing crowds giving Santa Monica both the feeling of a laid-back beach town and a major commercial hub.
