Not a gi-normous place but make sure to leave plenty of time to see all. Great exhibitions - especially liked the re motor bikes documentary, and the video re animal life around the oil rigs. This is the original building of Union - get a tour of the upstairs original office. Nice helpful workers/director.

Great place to see the history of oil production in Ventura County as well as other exhibits that are in the museum. Family and kid friendly exhibits.

I had some time to spare when passing through Santa Paula and I had read about this museum so I decided to give it a try. It is right downtown and quite easy to find and not far off the freeway. If you have any interest in the history of oil production in California this is the place for you.... More

This museum is a great break from the crazy world outside. The exhibits showed the history of oil in California and there is a gigantic saber tooth tiger inside the building. The building is a historic Queen Anne Victorian commercial building. Most of the original features remain in pristine condition.

I have visited this little museum many times over the past ten years. It is a fun spot for a couple of hours with visitors from out of town, grandchildren, and friends interested in California history. It was surprising to learn how early the oil industry started in Santa Paula and to see the equipment used. Once we had a... More

Every display presented that the Oil Museum is quality. From fossils, the objective history of the oil production in California, to the present mapping display. Informational and relevant.

A block from the train station on the main drag of town. Donations accepted. Fun remembrances of old gas pumps, memorabilia and a huge mock of of oil drilling rigs in separate building. Great for pictures.

I have donated labor to the museum and also donated a "fishing tool" that I found on the ARCO lease on the mountain above Steckel Park. It was made in 1885 in Santa Paula by a company located on the corner of Main and Davis streets. I also donated a chair that was originally a BOD chair for the Union... More

This unique museum is packed with lots of knowledge and visuals. All what you ever wanted to know about petroleum, local SoCal history, and more. Plus a well-supplied gift store. If they only could keep the front window displays more attractive...
