Escape to Africa by way of Sonoma County…Come discover the Sonoma Serengeti. The classic African safari is a trip of a lifetime for intrepid travelers from around the globe - and, it is closer than you think! The entire Safari West experience is a kid-friendly adventure for families to enjoy together. Our tours are designed to educate guests of all ages and we have found that families are truly inspired as they learn from and share with one another. At Safari West we strive to actively promote conservation and environmental education concepts to our guests, whether they are with us for an hour or a week. The whole experience at Safari West is one of building connections and making discoveries; getting back to basics and enjoying the profound simple pleasures of family and nature that are all too often overlooked. If anything is “not to be missed,” it is that sense of serenity one finds while gazing at graceful giraffe nuzzling her newborn or the surge of raw adventure while witnessing an energetic herd of wildebeest galloping across the horizon. Overnight lodging is also available - the true 'glamping' experience!

When I think of a Safari ride in the U.S. I think of a fairly lame experience which leaves me feeling uninspired and under educated. Safari West was quite the opposite. Our three hour tour started with a walk through the aviary (which was maybe the best aviary exhibit I have ever been in with delightful and somewhat friendly small... More

This is my review of our repeat Safari West experience taken on January 27, 2017. Please see my first review for my initial impressions. This review should be taken as a supplement to my first review. Our guide, Robert, mentioned that although we were touring in winter (and it was chilly and required appropriate layering), there were a number of... More

My family first time there and it was the best experience ever! Couldn't be anymore closer to those Safari animals. We saw them right before our eyes. Smelled the wildness. My daughters had the chance to sit on the top of the jeep. They were over joy with the experience. The birds and other animals are also so beautiful to... More

I took my wife and two daughters (4 and 7 years) for "glamping" and a safari. We arrived and they provided jeep service to our tent which was great for luggage and young kids. Dinner was average but the appetizers were impressive and tasty. My biggest issue was sleeping. I anticipated and looked forward to animal noises throughout the night.... More

I always wanted to go to this place and was very happy, the grandkids, 10 and 11, were so amazed by everything. The monkeys. We had the Safari West lunch at Noon, which is a good way to make sure the kids were not going to be hungry on the long tour. The pulled pork, barbecue chicken, potato salad, veggies,... More

The tour guide was very friendly and the ride on the safari vehicle was fun, but you can see a lot more animals up close and personal at the San Diego Zoo for half the price. The rhinos were pretty awesome.

This can be a romantic get-a-way or bring the grandkids kind of place. The staff is informative, there are several tours to choose from, the food is OUTSTANDING, and who doesn't want to stay overnight in a tent-Treehouse?

Wonderful, knowledgeable staff. Clean grounds. Mostly happy looking animals. A bit pricey, but worth it. It's way better than a "zoo" because the animals are more in their own environment instead of a cage (well, except for the monkeys - who have to be caged for obvious reasons).
