Escape to Africa by way of Sonoma County…Come discover the Sonoma Serengeti. The classic African safari is a trip of a lifetime for intrepid travelers from around the globe - and, it is closer than you think! The entire Safari West experience is a kid-friendly adventure for families to enjoy together. Our tours are designed to educate guests of all ages and we have found that families are truly inspired as they learn from and share with one another. At Safari West we strive to actively promote conservation and environmental education concepts to our guests, whether they are with us for an hour or a week. The whole experience at Safari West is one of building connections and making discoveries; getting back to basics and enjoying the profound simple pleasures of family and nature that are all too often overlooked. If anything is “not to be missed,” it is that sense of serenity one finds while gazing at graceful giraffe nuzzling her newborn or the surge of raw adventure while witnessing an energetic herd of wildebeest galloping across the horizon. Overnight lodging is also available - the true 'glamping' experience!

It was great getting so close to these animals. The tour was good and most of the animals have fabulous large areas with many acres to roam around. Unfortunately there are some animals in cages, like in a zoo and I was not thrilled about...More

We planed this trip for a long time. The trip around the grounds on foot was fun. They need a bigger space for the small cats though. It was fun to go out into the hills and see the animals in a more natural setting.

We’ve actually stayed here in one of the Safari tents when our kids were in elementary school. It was a blast! The dinner is delicious and the tents are so comfortable. It feels like what I imagine a luxury stay on a safari would feel...More

All regular tours were sold out, so we opted for the early morning behind the scenes. About an hour of feeding porcupines, giraffes, and warthogs and birds. Our tour guide Jeff was knowledgeable and friendly. After the tour we were able to walk around the...More

Having lived in the area for many years, I had never been here. Friends came from out of town and we thought this would be a great place to go. It was the best choice and we had a wonderful time.

The Wonder in the woods was a great Valentine’s Day surprise for my wife. 30 minutes up the hill from Napa wine country. This was a great trip. We added on the lunch as well. Great guides with a wonderful Safari setting!

Great day--ask for Jeff--he is a great guide! My favorite was the giraffe and rhino. My 80 year old mom loved it as well!

Family visit on the safari! Nice to see animals not all caged up, they are out free. Giraffes came up to the jeep, very cool! Will have to go back and spend the night in one of the tents.

There was only 1 bumpy area and that was perhaps for fun of the kids along. Just tell them, they are totally accomodating.

The walking portion is brief. I don't recall places to sit but you can always return to the main area to rest before your drinking tour starts. The vehicle is covered. It's rarely beastly hot in Sonoma county, but to be sure... More
