Came to Santa Rosa as a base for wine tasting but had decided in advance to spend time absorbing local history/sights. SO glad we stopped here --had always known the name "Burbank" but had no idea of is contribution to our food supply. The gardens...More

Luther Burbank was a fantastic botanist early in the 20th Century, and his work and legacy is reflected in this quaint and relaxing garden in the middle of Santa Rosa.

We visited the gardens and were delighted by the layout and the variety of plants - many attributed to Burbank's work. Interpretive signage was adequate, but sometimes incorrect, and some of the beds needed work. I do appreciate that the gardens and facility are maintained...More

Beautiful gardens, and lovely setting. They also have a great sale, where you are able to purchase some rare plants once a year at least-maybe more! Friendly staff.

We visited the garden in mid-July. Volunteers were in the process of weeding and cleaning up the beds. Even so, it was a lovely walk through this still beautiful garden.

The house was closed the day we visited (Monday) but the garden alone was well worth the visit. I am no gardener, but the explanations of Burbank's experiments and attempts to introduce different foods is very intriguing. He failed miserably to sell Americans on the...More

We were saddened that the garden of this lovely home was not looked after very well, weeds abound and very unkept. Luther Burbank was a botanist and horticulturist and I should think be horrified at the state of his garden right now.

Mr Burbank did so many things, so many improvements to what we eat, I wish I could thank him personally.

We visited on a whim after finding on the internet while on vacation. We elected to have a tour of the house as there was a slight rain. What a great docent - she gave us loads of information on Mr. Burbank. We did tour...More

There's not a whole lot to see here, and parking only on the street with quarters. It was much smaller than I remember, and though people were poking around, there wasn't really much to see. Not sure why I remember it as being a glorious...More

I would agree with Kevin G - certainly worth a visit even taking account of perhaps a few steps.
