My boyfriend and I went ahead and checked out the museum to learn a little bit more about the city and the Danish culture. They museum does not charge a fee but they do accept $5 donations. The house/museum was actually made by the husband and wife who were a painter and a sculptor. We were able to look at... More

This is a very interesting museum. It has a lot of Viking artifacts to see along with Danish works within the old house. I thought I knew most things about how Solvang was developed. This museum taught me much more. If like visiting museums, put this close to the top. You will not be disappointed. And its free!

This cute Danish museum, Elverhoj Museum of Art and History (means elves on a hill), was previously owned by Viggo Brandt-Erichsen and wife Martha Mott Brandt-Erichsen. He was a sculptor and she was a painter. They donated their home to the preservation of Danish culture of Solvang. This museum is packed with Danish history and explains how Solvang came to... More

The museum is free and easy to do at your own pace. Though a few blocks away from all the shopping it is a pleasant walk, even when hot. It well explains how Solvang was founded and came to be the tourist spot it is today.

We thoroughly enjoyed our visit to this small museum housed in one of the original homes of Solvang. Enjoyed the rooms with original furnishings and the historical information provided in each room. The docents were most helpful.

Having visited Solvang as a child (with my family) on our way to Disneyland from the Bay Area I was curious to find out more about the history and background of the town, especially since my father was raised in Denmark. This was worth the visit. I learned that Solvang was founded in 1911 by Danes who wanted to establish... More

Having grown up in So Ca and visited Solvang growing up many, many times I wanted to dig a bit deeper and learn the history of Solvang. The Elverhoj Museum is an interest visit full of much Danish and local history. Very interesting to walk about and read the history of the area and city's start. It was a warm... More

This is a small museum with rooms depicting the Danish homes of the past with beautiful exhibits and wonderful photos. The docent was Danish and delightful. We enjoyed learning how Solvang developed. There is a small gift shop that has nice, unique art items. The grounds are lovely. We were there an hour or so.

Small but beautiful museum. Walking around the house, a typical Danish structure, where no nails are used in the construction, we could learn how the Dutch lived. The video took us back in time to when the City of Solvang was being built and how they grew up. We also saw a nice collection of Art in an adjoining room.... More

The Elverhoj Museum is housed in an historical Solvang house. The museum is accessible to people of all ages, featuring interpretive exhibits and staffed by friendly, knowledgeable docents. The museum also rotates art shows through its gallery, often featuring interesting and famous works of art, as well as the work of local artists. I recommend a visit to the Elverhoj... More
