The land was just breath taking and the history of the families that passed their gifts from generation to generation was amazing. Definitely work the trip.

Route 12, between Sonoma and Santa Rosa, is a California Scenic Highway. It is one lane in each direction, and crowded, especially on weekends when wine tasting or other events attract tourists. We live at the edge of it, and thing our 12 mile drive between cities is one of the most beautiful Mayacamas Mountains to the NW, and vineyards... More

Thrilled we stayed in Sonoma vs. Napa, it is much smaller but close enough to Napa for an excellent day trip. Absolutely stunning vistas, gorgeous weather and a wonderful scenic hiking trail that overlooks the town and undulating ranges. Lovely bike/walking path downtown.

The Sonoma Valley wine trail follows Highway 12 through southern Sonoma county in CA. It has a large number of very good wineries to visit with tasting prices generally lower than those at the Napa Valley wineries. In Napa the price for a tasting is around $25.00 and up. Some of the wineries here are Kenwood, St. Anne's Crossing, Ravenswood,... More

It's at the Southern end of Sonoma so the first you hit off of I-80. Very pretty although not as treed as most of the 2 valleys. If you like great red wines, other than a couple, this is not your place. If you like Chardonnay and Champagne, this IS your place. Some of the best Chardonnay grapes, and thereby... More

When you get tired of eating the incredible sushi in the city, venture out to the scenic valley of wine and sun for a great time.
