We visited the Wedding Rock at Patrick's point state park. It was absolutely beautiful. It is right on the ocean with gorgeous scenery. They also have camping at this location. We didn't actually stay at the park but visited Wedding rock twice bc it was...More

Although this park must be paid for separately to enter, the hikes were leisurely and the views are worth it!

Our visit was great from the moment we entered the park. The ranger at the front gate was eager, helpful, and smiling the whole time he gave us suggestions. The second ranger helped the car behind us. I thought that this was great customer service....More

We have camped there and yesterday did a day visit to the park. Great place to visit and enjoy the ocean. Wedding rock, tide pools, agate beach or the trees. Does not make a difference rain or shine, it still is a great place to...More

This park is nice to walk around and explore at your leisure. Plenty of trees and lush vegetation. Also there is Agate beach down below from the park. It's a huge long beach that leads all the way to Stone lagoon?(not sure of the exact...More

Lovely, lovely park! We very much enjoyed the tide pools and beach combing at Agate Beach. Wedding rock provided some adrenaline because we chose to climb around on it. However, you can simply enjoy the overlooks without the fear of falling.

We went to Patrick's Point on our way to the Redwoods from San Francisco specifically for the Agate Beach, and we were not disappointed. The "steps" to the Agate beach pretty much have suffered erosion and is more of a rope ladder at best and...More

This is where the forest meets the sea, and coupled with beautiful walks, camping, sea lions, and good birding, it is unparalleled for getting a cross-section sampling of Humboldt. Don't miss Agate Beach, altho the path to walk down is a bit treacherous and not...More

I differ from many other reviewers. Yes, this state park is pretty, but at $8 per car it is in my opinion too pricey for one person. You can walk in for free, but it's a long way to the beach area. There are so...More

Questions & AnswersAsk a question
If we camp at Patrick's Point will we still get a good feel for the redwoods or should we drive up an extra hour or so to Del Norte?

Stay at Patricks Point and take a day trip a little further North up to the Lady Bird Johnson Grove. You will get to experience a great variety of redwoods and then come back to the sheer beauty of the park, trees and ocean.

We were only there to hike, however, I am not sure of view sites as the trees are very dense. A park map might help or call the ranger station they are very helpful.

You really can't go too wrong in Abalone, we've stayed mostly in the 40's. Each of the sites have lots of shrub growth which lends to privacy and the sites run deep. This is one of our favorite camping spots. Have fun!
