The park rangers working here are extremely helpful. They made sure all our questions were answered and they even walked around telling people about the informative movie that was about to play. There are camp sites nearby and very nice walking trails.

What a delightful small museum packed with not only history of the Donner Party but of settlers coming to California and the birth of the intercontinental railroad with Centeal Pacific meeting up with Union Pacific at Promintory Point in Utah in 1869.

Depends on the weather and your ability to walk on uneven surfaces. Usually you can park near the lake, right off the highway.
