Don't miss this

A soul cleansing hike through old growth Redwoods. Some of the tallest trees in the world are on this relatively easy hike. Layer up and have decent walking shoes.

Maybe 45 min. from Mendocino and near Ukiah. This place is enchanting, and beatuiful and inviting. What a find! There is 367.5-foot redwood, this wise giant is 1300 yrs old!! It's huge and powerful and calming. A long windy road, but not terrible, and take your time ! Decent parking and nice picnic spot before your walk. The walk starts... More

The remoteness of the place almost insures your not going to face a crowd as you enjoy this redwood forest. There are many of the giant trees to enjoy with each turn leading you to something as interesting as what you were just oohing and aahing about the moment before. We also happened on a wandering red-bellied newt which was... More

The Slime Kingdom was rocking to the beat of Finn singing a love song to Slime Princess. Elder Flopside Is that a box with a face? And thus our hike began. Prior to the walk and after we exited our vehicle, time stood still. What can I do for you? What can I do for you that no one else... More

Whether or not you are visiting Orr Hot Springs, just down the road, this is a lovely walk and visit not to be missed. Lovely, oild growth redwoods in a hanging valley meet you after a short but rather steep walk up the hill from the parking lot. The circular trail takes you over creeks, past newts, next to towering... More

This is not an easy place to find, but if you don't have the time to drive far north to the well known Redwood National Forest, then come here to Montgomery. The parking lot holds maybe a half-dozen cars and there is a toilet facility. You'll walk steeply uphill for maybe a quarter or third of mile and then come... More

A bit of a hike but a big bang if you are into Old Growth Redwood Groves. This one is a real gem, a real sanctuary. A very peaceful place to walk and meditate. Magical hardly begins to describe it.

Montgomery Woods is a state reserve of redwoods that is 13 miles West of Ukiah, Ca. The road to get there, however, is very tortuous and it will take nearly 40 minutes to get there. Redwoods are always impressive but this forest is not as majestic or old as Muir Woods (for instance). There is a 3 miles walking path... More

This is a magnificent collection of redwoods, some of them among the largest and tallest we have seen. There’s a pretty easy two-mile-or-so hike, which gets you to the highlights. We were staying near Mendocino, so the park was about an hour’s drive over a twisting and an increasingly narrow road. There’s some beautiful scenery along the way, and you... More

This was an amazing hike through a fern carpeted forest of sequoias. My neck got tired from looking up at the majesty of these beauties. The start of the hike is pretty uphill so be prepared and bring mosquito repellent. You can take the main loop and also take little side trails for a longer hike.
