I decided to become a member of these gardens. They have special events and member discounts on plants. It's a beautifully stocked garden.

Having just finished landscaping much of our front yard, we were interested to adding a few succulents there and several more in our backyard for an approaching party we were hosting last summer. We visited on a Saturday and found Bancroft Garden in a surprising location near a large residential area. Apparently, it was there before the development. This isn't... More

we are annual member of here. The garden is so beautiful and offers the unique and memorable desert garden look. It has so many different types of desert plants and flowers. And it's dog friendly.

This one-time 400 acre walnut and pear farm has an interesting history. This is explained and described in the brochure that you will receive after paying the modest admission fee. This 3 acre garden has a terrific collection of cacti and succulents. And, a number of one-of-a-kind (in the garden) interesting trees. They have a huge nursery shop for the... More

Ruth Bancroft has created a huge succulent garden that is open to the public. Take a guided tour with a docent. Great place for adults and children. Oh, yes and Ruth is over 100 years old and lives in the big house on the property!

If you have an interest in succulents or cacti, you'll greatly enjoy the gardens. We took the 11am free docent tour and our docent was a fountain of knowledge about the plants and the history of the garden. While the gardens do provide you with a map and color coding information about species so you can move about on your... More

Recently visited on a Friday night that offered a BBQ Buffet, live music and the almost enjoyable stroll through the garden. The garden alone is worth a visit and on days when there are special events it enhances the experience.

Ruth Bancroft Garden is in Walnut Creek near Treat and Ignacio Valley Road. It's one of those rare huge corner lots that started as somebody's orchard or farm many, many years ago and is still undeveloped and owned by the family. Mrs. Bancroft lives in an old mansion on the grounds. The house is private, but is fun to look... More
