Recognized as one of the finest remaining country estates of the early 20th century, Filoli welcomes the public to this remarkable 654-acre property. Designed between 1915 and 1917 and set against the dramatic backdrop of the northern Santa Cruz mountains in Woodside, California, Filoli is an excellent example of the Golden Age of American garden design and country house architecture.

Opened to the public in 1976 as a site of the National Trust for Historic Preservation, Filoli features a 36,000 sq. Ft. Home and a 16-acre English Renaissance Garden. In addition, Filoli's property includes a 6.8 Acre Gentlemen's Heritage Orchard and a trail system that transverses five different ecosystems for docent-guided nature hikes.

Filoli is dedicated to the preservation, interpretation and stewardship of the cultural traditions and natural history of this country estate for public education and enjoyment.

The gardens at Filoli are spectacular. My wife and I enjoyed strolling through the gardens on a beautiful spring day. Many flowers were in bloom: tulips, hyacinths, cyclamen, camelias, daffodils, etc. The colors were gorgeous. Even though lots of people were there at the same time, we had enough space to enjoy each other's company in peace and quiet. Filoli... More

Filoli was a hidden gem. Hidden off Canada Road the grounds and house are beautiful. Entrance to both cost $20 per adult. While visiting there I had a deja vu experience. I knew I hadn't been there before. I discovered in the house that the Bourns purchased Muckross, an Irish estate near Lake Killarney as a wedding present for there... More

Never knew this beautiful place existed until I accidentally stumbled on it on-line. We picked a perfect weekend; first nice weekend after weeks of rain. Crisp, but nice enough to be outside. Fields of daffodils were in bloom, hyacinth in pots, tulips just opening. Beauty for all senses....some smells were just heaven. Toured the grand house also. Might pay for... More

Recently visited Filoli and found it to be stunning. The grounds/gardens are ablaze with spring flowers from both bulbs and trees, and the house was fascinating. The docents were knowledgeable and eager to share their information. The combination of house and grounds was a day well-spent. The only downside is that we had to picnic in the parking lot.

Have been a member with Filoli for 3 years. I have a Dual membership so I can take my Mom or my husband. My Mom and I tend to go one day a week. They open at 10 and are currently open till 5 pm, so you can wonder the grounds at leisure. Great place to sit and talk or... More

After having an excellent lunch at the cafe (thanks Andrew!) we tour the house and gardens. Breathtaking! We chose not to take the guided tour and explored on our own. There were guides in each room to answer any question you might have. We had questions about the families that lived there and of the period furniture. The room hosts... More

LOVED our visit to Filoli. The house on a self guided tour of the 36,000 sq ft home, first floor is only open for touring, takes about an hour to see. The grounds are fabulous and a real pleasure to walk Surpasses homes I've seen in Europe. Can't wait to come back.

This is located adjacent East Bay Regional Parks property. The house is huge, but the gardens are even more enormous. I would suggest going in May, June so you can see everything in bloom.

I visit Filoli Gardens every year in the Spring time when the most beautiful flowers are blooming. The variety and the varied colors of flowers never disappoint. The two story Estate is a charming home that still has some of it's original furniture and artwork. The upstairs is closed to the public but you will have plenty to see on... More

This was my third visit. I've been in the fall to visit the house when the gardens weren't in bloom, I've visited in the spring when the gardens are just gorgeous and this most recent visit was for their holiday boutique. I will say the holiday open house was just beautiful but it was so crowded that it was nearly... More
