My brothers and I were checking out a few casinos here in Black Hawk. We each felt that the Golden Gates needed some sprucing up. It was OK for a short stint of slot playing, but then we moved on.

Walked over from where we were staying to check out the casino. I was disappointed because it was small and dark. Games seemed to be stuffed on top of each other and just did not have a good vibe. I played a couple of slots...More

Looked up on-line and saw they had poker tournaments. We drove up and they didn't have enough dealers for their advertised tournaments, during a holiday week?!?? Just a big disappointment and a wasted drive.

I wedged 2 evenings at the poker tables into a business trip. The Gates has more poker tournaments at convenient times than anywhere else I could find in Black Hawk, so I spent my time there. Lots of "Regulars" play there, like many casinos, but...More

We must have missed the floor with all the slots because where we were there were hardly any. There was a good-sized poker room and several table games. Plus it was so warm we started to sweat. We each lost our budgeted allotment quickly and...More

Due to all the downsizing and reduction of player's comps, most of the premium players, have defected, to other Casinos. Until they realize this, stay away from this once, very enjoyable Casino.

Well I'll start with positives.. Free parking and the garage elevator take you straight to the poker room... Not the worst poker room I've played in but a far cry from the best. The players are ok but they think there the best around.. Or...More
