Weekends are very busy and you'll have lots of company on the trails, but if you go midweek, you can enjoy the mountains.

Lovely views of the flatirons and a nice little park/venue. We had a fun time climbing around on the little kids' rocks in the park and had lots of fun with editing the pics later.

Despite the warnings of difficulties finding parking, we found a convenient place to park. Then we visited the ranger office to find a trail to the top that would match our hiking skills.

Had a great time hiking up @1500 feet to top of the mountain via Flat Iron 1 & 2. Being from flat Florida is was great workout and well worth the effort. The people we passed and who passed us along the way were friendly....More

We visited the park late on a Saturday afternoon. The view of the Flatirons was amazing. We ventured a short way onto the trails, as we are not big hikers, and enjoyed the view of the mountains close up. The trails appear to be well...More

This is Boulder's most beautiful spot and every visitor should visit once. Parking is a little better now that the city created more spots along Baseline. Get there early to avoid crowds. Get a map from the ranger's cottage and go for trails less travelled....More

Went for a concert over Labor Day weekend. The venue was amazing (although the bathrooms could've been a little more plentiful and cleaner). The barn and grounds are terrific and I would highly suggest you go to just about any type of performance there. Next...More

Chautauqua Park has much history and is seen in the house/restaurant pictures. The park itself is absolutely gorgeous with so many things to do: hiking, biking, sitting, picnics, frisbee and other sports. Of course the restaurant offers wonderful food and views of the park area....More

Great hiking up to the Flatirons. I think you can have a dog on a leash. If you are in Boulder, you need to go to Chautauqua Park and the flatirons.

Bears are not a problem here. Mostly bear sightings would be generally harmless brown bears, not the dangerous grizzly bears, and brown bear sightings are rare. But mountain lions are in the vicinity, often spotted in... More

There is a visitors center. I would suggest checking in with the visitors center for most recent wildlife reports. Be safe ... use common sense ... never ever engage a bear if encountered. Read up on what to do if you... More

No, it's about a mile to the top of the flatirons: google "Chautauqua trailhead' and you can find a map with distances. I walked this last Saturday, and it was icy. I wore crampons but many people braved it in sneakers... More
