A small entry fee of 7 dollars per car load. We heard there are many Bald Eagles here and sure in enough we saw plenty. We hiked about 3 miles around the lake. You can see the eagles flying around and guarding their nests. Awesome views of the mountains and plentiful of wildlife like geese and ducks. Though other hike... More

Barr Lake is a great place to spend the day with family. They have a big pavillion where you can have a cook out with family. There are other single cook out areas. They have a great path around the lake that can used for jogging, walking, or riding a bike. The rangers in the park are very friendly and... More

I love walking around the lake. It's about 10 miles all the way around but it is peaceful and the nature is beautiful. There's fishing and bird watching also. Check it out.

I go to Barr Lake for birding, it's one of the premiere locations in the state. A large irrigation reservoir, it attracts thousands of waterfowl throughout the year. The wildlife section is amazing with boardwalks wandering through a nature wonderland in spring and early summer. Water levels slowly go down towards winter, so water views are farther away, but it's... More

We saw juveniles, adults, 1 nest, 2 feeding on fish ( but we didn't see them catch them). The trail around Barr Lake is 8 miles - we did 2 out and back from the visitor center. Very nice boardwalks over the wetlands and into the Lake. The visitor center is very nice, newly remodeled with a grand reopening due... More

Great place for kayaking and canoeing as powerboats are limited to electric trolling or gasoline motors 10 horsepower or less, which keeps them away. We almost always see an eagle or two when we come here to canoe. Bathroom facilities are close by. There are miles of walking trails for those who just want to commune with nature. $7/day or... Terrific little lake with good fishing and lots and lots of birds. Roughly half of the lake is in a wildlife refuge, fishing is not allowed in this portion of the lake. The North end of the lake is open to fishing and you can catch a wide variety which include Rainbow Trout, Walleye, Wiper, Tiger Muskie, Largemouth Bass, Yellow... More

I love this park, its quiet and the wild life is abundant. I also like that you are able to hunt on the premise. What I wish we had was a parking lot that allowed walk in access at no cost, like Cherry Creek. If I just want to go for a lovely stroll I have to pay an access... More

We were able to visit when the eaglets were still in the nest, and it was amazing. The hike to get to the viewing area was lovely with a multitude of breath-taking views.

We had a four hour delay thanks to Spirit Air (who later cancelled our flight) and still had a rental car, so I randomly looked at a map and saw there was a lake and park within 20 min. $7 to park. The drive out there is strange, through planned subdivisions and fields. The lake is great to walk around... More
