We have enjoyed many fine operas at the Central City Opera House. It is a grand old theater with very good seating. All productions we have viewed had suburb casts.

Erected by the citizenry, eventually neglected, then rescued from oblivion, this Opera House is in use during opera season only. It has wonderful acoustics and hosted some great names in the past. It is also possessed of a mysterious pervasive chill... why? Guided tours are...More

The Central City Opera is a much anticipated and enjoyed event annually. The productions are very well done, and the Opera House itself is something not to be missed -- the history of the place is incredible, take some time to learn about it --...More

Central City Opera is a treasure: small and historic venue with first class opera singers and performances during the summer. Tosca and The Ballad of Baby Doe are the main 2016 productions and both are terrific. 50 minute drive from Denver to this historic mining...More

The historic opera house has been carefully restored and is very comfortable. Their production of Baby Doe was excellent. It is the 60th anniversary of the opera which was first produced in Central City. Do also enjoy lunch or dinner at Rouge/Face next door.

First, Central City has largely been ruined by all the casinos. There, that is off my chest. But the CC Opera House is great. I love it. Small, but in an intimate set. And the recent Tosca was a masterpiece. Absolutely worth a trip out...More

I was truly impressed by this production. Wonderful cast and truly solid presentation. The story of Horace Tabor and his love of this Colorado legend holds special notice a it takes place in a locale specific to its plot.

Don't usually go to Operas, but Baby Doe was entertaining and well done. The Central City Opera House is a great venue!

I haven't been to the Central City Opera in years, but this year's "Ballad of Baby Doe" was fabulously done. The singers and musicians are professionals from all over the country. The production was really well adapted to the small stage in the beautiful, historic...More

Will dress slacks and a long-sleeved Oxford shirt (no tie or jacket) be acceptable attire for my husband for tonight's performance? I read that there is no dress code, but I don't want him to feel poorly dressed. Thanks!

We did a matinee performance, and there was the complete range of attire. So, I believe that he will be well dressed without be over dressed.
