If you need reassurance that our nation's future is in good hands, and that our tax payments are going to a good cause, visit the USAFA!

Go to the north gate exit 156 - have a drivers license or photos id available. It's a beautiful drive. A stunning campus and the chapel is breathtaking. Walk from the chapel up to the visitor's center there is a big gift shop if you...More

The Academy is in a beautiful mountain setting, and it is interesting to get a feel for the cadet life. The war memorials on this enormous campus are very moving and something all Americans should visit. There are trails for hiking. The one odd thing...More

This was my second time coming to an Air Force Academy graduation. The base is beautiful and offers activities that most bases don't offer, due to it's location. It is inspiring to see the young cadets push themselves to become our nation's next military leaders.

This incredible metal architectural wonder is even more beautiful than I expected. The colored light streaming in through the strips of stained glass that zigzag up and down the metal walls is gorgeous.

Go see it now before it closes for a couple of years worth of overdue renovations. They're going to strip it down to the bares bone, then put it all back together so that it doesn't leak anymore.

I've heard it's the #1 most visited man-made structure in Colorado, and for good reason. Interesting architecture and overall, beautiful. It will be under renovation soon with will close it at times and detract from it's beauty so be sure to check the USAF Academy...More

The chapel is unique and beautiful. Park at the visitor center and take the short walk over to the chapel. Be sure to see both the Protestant and Catholic chapels.

My husband and I will be vacationing in Colorado Springs in June and would like to tour the Academy. Are there guided tours? Do I need to get "clearance" before I arrive? How do I do that? If there are guided tours, are they handicapped accessible? As I am handicapped,.I will be using my electric scooter. Is the Academy open for tours every day? Thank you for your help!

We did not use the guided tour but others did at the visitors center. There are lots of ramps but I don't know if the guided tour is 100% wheel chair friendly. The visitors center should have more information. We are... More

I am tortured trying to make this decision: Do I take my nine year old boy to Cripple Creek or to the Air Force Academy? I have a half a day. Any advice?

If he is interested in aircraft static displays and a neat visitor center that has lots of goodies focused on kids, go to the Air Force Academy. If he wants to ride an old steam train or tour a gold mine, or any of several... More
