Colorado Springs is home to America’s ONLY mountain zoo. Located at 6,800 feet above sea level, Cheyenne Mountain Zoo offers breathtaking views of the city and of its 750 animals. The unique design of the Zoo’s animal exhibits gets guests closer than ever before. Hand-feed one of the largest reticulated giraffe herds in the world, watch grizzlies swim with trout, hop next to red-necked wallabies and get hands on with some of the Zoo’s smaller residents in The Loft. Have a WILD adventure at Cheyenne Mountain Zoo – see the animals, ride an antique carousel, eat a gourmet lunch at the Grizzly Grill and ride the Mountaineer Sky Ride to the Zoo’s summit. Visit 365 days a year for family fun at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo.

Aside from being a pretty clean zoo, the way it was built on a mountain side makes even more unique. The paths terrace along the mountain throughout the zoo and gives great views of the terrain below. Out of all the zoo's we have gone...More

The traffic driving up was horrible. As we got onto lake ave from heading north on Nevada, we hit a traffic jam. We were worried the parking lot would be full. We tired calling the zoo 3 times, no answer. We ended up being right....More

This is a great zoo. It is on a montain-side at a high elevation though, so might not be for everyone. The exhibits are natural, so sometimes a little hard to see what you re looking for. Restaurants inside have pretty good food. Nice half...More

Excellent day at the zoo. Fed the giraffes and had a great time with the granddaughter. Ride the shuttle all day. Well worth the extra.

This zoo is unique in many respects. Most obvious is that it is built into the side of Cheyenne Mountain, which gives it a very natural feel. They do have shuttles for people that can’t accommodate the up and down but it isn’t as had...More

First and foremost, it appears that the animals are in large and appropriate habitats. Throughout the day I saw plenty of zoo personnel with the animals and interacting with them. I watched the bobcat presentation which was really interesting. The tiger exhibit and giraffe exhibit...More

Our favorite experiences included feeding the giraffes and riding the sky ride. There was a large variety of animals but like in many other zoos, they were lazy. Not the zoo’s fault. Other than that, the employees were friendly, the fried Oreos were bomb, and...More

We visited over the Thanksgiving break and fell in love. So many beautiful animals in an amazing natural background. It’s amazing and so peaceful. My husband and teenager have said this is on their top three things we have done in Colorado Springs.
