Pleased to take a break from a conference in Denver, the refuge is just eight miles from the city. Pleased to see a coyote, multiple deer, dozens of prairie dogs (so cute), herds of bison, along with birds including eagles, harriers, ducks, etc.

I had never even heard of this place until I was researching things to do near where my out-of-town cousin would be staying in the Denver/Commerce City area. When I saw it was free, it got put on the top of my list. So we...More

Not worth a special trip - however if you are in the area and have the time - it's a nice place to visit. We observed many Deer and Bison during our morning ride through the park.

A short distance from DIA, this is the only nature you can find in the airport area. We saw lots of prairie dogs, deer, and bison! Even a few views of what the prairie looked like before electric lines and concrete took over Denver. A...More

The refuge is a very large open prairie grassland including a wildlife viewing drive where you are sure to see bison, prairie dogs, and deer and many varieties of birds. The paths are not in wooded areas (not a complaint, but an observation), so may...More
