I had a general preconception of what this tour would be like however I was totally off! It is both surprising and incredibly educational & informative.

We thought it was really neat; learning how the miners worked in the mine, the evolution of equipment, and the demise of deep hard-rock mining in tunnels. Take a jacket or use one that they have provided when you're issued your hard hats. It's pretty...More

First of all wear a jacket it gets chilly. I can't believe people did this daily for a living. Such a great place to bring kids to see what life was like back in the day!

We took the time to stop in and tour this attraction right outside Cripple Creek, CO and it was definitely worth the stop and the price. It takes about an hour from start to finish but the staff that conduct the tour are very knowledgeable...More

Smush about 6 people into a small metal 'elevator' and then drop 1000 feet into the bowels of the earth. Ride on old mining carts around some well lit mine shafts - seeing old machinery, watching a demo of an old (and very noisy) drill...More

You gear up and wear hard hats and take a real working mine lift down 1000ft to see real underground mine workings and equipment demonstrations and take a real underground miner train. VERY informative and interesting!

As a 26year old who grew up taking family road trips to many national parks/zoos/museums/etc around the United States, this is my new favorite tour! So much fun! So adventurous going 1000 feet underground in a tiny miner's elevator! Great tour guides from family's who've...More

This is a good time for young and old alike. We had a great time taking the tour and traveling deep into what was a working mine. Afterward we looked through the gift shop and also fed the ground squirrels. I think you will enjoy...More

I wasn't sure about this one at first but so glad we did it. Once we put on the hardhats and were lowered down into the ground in a cage our guide had us hanging on his every word. He worked the mine as well...More

What an experience!! First of all you go 1000 ft. underground to the gold mine. The tour guide was very good. He not only was a former miner of 30 years or so but also had a great sense of humor. The tour was very...More

You will enter and exit the mine by an authentic mine elevator. It is small and you will be packed in like sardines. I'm not exaggerating. It's okay though, because the ascent and descent are quick. Once in the mine you... More
Hello, what is the fee charged to seniors for taking your tour? Do I just show up or need reservations? What are your hours of tours offered? Thanks, Mary
