A key feature in the Denver skyline because of its gold bell-shaped dome, the Capitol Building, fittingly in the Mile High City, has a point located at exactly 5,280 feet above sea level. Free tours are available for visitors.

Beautiful building, but there are a LOT of homeless people in this area. When we went, there was a choir singing on the steps, which was very nice.

Found uninteresting they want a review. I'm assuming not a political review. That will not happen even if what is being asked for by trip advisor. It's a Capitol building. What you would expect, except the plaque for 5280 feet above sea level is only...More

It was so cool to see this and other state buildings. Amazing history and design. Go during the day as lots of homeless in the night.

It's a nice place to visit. The building is beautiful inside. There's also a nice park adjacent to the building.

Definitely take the free Capitol Tour when you are in Denver. The building is beautiful and you can even walk up to the dome.

The gold dome is only the start. Inside it's beautiful so a walking tour presents lots to see. It's always free and open to the public.

The Colorado state building is really unusual. It has a dome that has real gold on the top. It has historic charm and one can certainly see the beauty especially when the sun set in the evening on the dome.

There are public lots all around the capitol. Most are reasonably priced. If you're staying at one of the downtown hotels I would recommend catching the 16th Street Bus.
