A nearly perfect opera house!

Though it opened to glowing reviews, I was not smitten with the world premiere production of The Scarlet Letter at Opera Colorado. I am admittedly not an opera buff, but for a world premiere opera, I had mistakenly expected something more hopeful, colorful, and engaging.

My wife and I saw the Alice in Wonderland ballet and the Scarlet Letter opera here and enjoyed both experiences! The house is beautiful and huge, ritzy as hell, and the numerous bars serve drinks and snacks before the performance and during intermission. Before the show, head over to one of the numerous cafes and restaurants that line the walkway... More

A great opera theater. Classic brick outside, great modern woodwork plus acoustics inside. Attended the showing of a most remarkable film, River of Fundament during the Denver Biennial of the Americas, and other events. Very well impressed by acoustics, visual, staff.

Opera Colorado improves every year and this season was magical! Next season promises to be even better with the World Premier of The Scarlet Letter. We were fortunate to see the concert reading of the Scarlet Letter done by the Opera Colorado Young Artists and it was superb! If you happen to be in Denver during the opera season, be... More

We were in the Ellie Caulkins Opera House for an event other than opera. I must say that it's a very impressive building. The acoustics seemed very good, and the sight lines to the stage were great. No seat seemed very far away.

I wish they had more than 2 performances a season; but the first one was outstanding. The lead singer (from China) was outstanding and the set was intimate and believable.

We purchased tickets to this venue and thoroughly enjoyed the opera. I was so impressed with the singing, the acting....the company did an exquisite job. My only criticism was that we were seated originally upstairs in seats that were like bar type seats... off the ground and only with a partial view of the stage. I would have had to... More

"Stories That Sing," that's the motto for Opera Colorado. Excellent productions with world-class cast and creative talent in the beautiful, remodeled Ellie Caulkins Opera House. Their shows are so good I see them as many times as I can.
