I’ve been hiking this park for years. I love that it’s so close but feels like you’re in the mountains. Nice trails, great views. Fun!

This is one of our favorite places to hike. The West entrance is less crowded than the main or East. Easy to moderate level. Dogs allowed on leashes. Picnic tables at parking lots. Clean, beautiful, and great for kids.

Visited Castlewood Canyon State Park in May 2018. There are 15 trails ranging from easy to difficult and from 0.1 miles to over 2 miles. The scenery was beautiful and it was very clean.

It's Mother's Day and we decided to go for a hike. Did a little research and also asked some friends and they suggested Castlewood Canyon State Park in Franktown, CO. From where we live it's about a 20 mile drive. For Mother's Day I was...More

This park is small enough to hike all of it's trails plus see the sights afforded here. There are canyon views that are beautiful plus the added attraction of the dam that burst in 1933 and whose waters traveled approx 40 miles to plunge Denver...More

This state park is only a few miles from Parker and Castle Rock. It seems to be in the middle of nowhere, but has a nice canyon, walking trails, viewing points and a small visitors center with restrooms. Access is $7 for the day. There...More

Another great place to hike. We chose to hike the lake gulch trail and hook up to the inner canyon trail. Beautiful scenery, variety of views from grassland to boulders, to the creek. Also went to the bridge overlook. A couple other trails there to...More

What a nice walk! We ate a picnic, and walked along Creek Bottom Trail (1.7 miles one way). It follows Cherry Creek until the ruins of Castlewood Dam. So pretty. We then walked back along the stream and further, all gorgeous. We even took off...More

Great place to visit. Entrance fee is reasonable if you are going to spend some time, hiking, etc. Not reasonable if you only want to drive through the park and stay in your car. There is an interesting visitor center.
