I grew up in Colorado and took many trips on I-70 through Glenwood Canyon. The highway meandered next to the Colorado River. The new highway is a spectacular engineering achievement, but I miss being close to the water. So, on a recent trip, we brought...More

This a great bike trail. It goes right from downtown Glenwood Springs into scenic Glenwood Canyon. If you're lucky, you may get to see some big horn sheep up close as they tend to gather near the trail.

We arrived with our bikes to take a casual ride in the canyon. Much to our dismay we found signs saying the bike trail is closed without explanation. We drove over half the canyon and saw no reason for the closure. Thanks government for protecting...More

We started the ride at the east end of Glenwood Canyon. It's downhill most of the way back to Glenwood Springs. Astoundingly beautiful canyon. I'm glad we had plenty of time to enjoy the ride and spectacular surroundings. The only dicey part was an area...More

We left from the Silver Spruce Motel. The trail is accessed near the Vapor Caves. If you are one who needs water carry several bottles and a backpack. There are several big hills. The river by your side is awesome. There was a mountain sheep...More

Great bike ride next to Colorado River from Glenwood. Not strenuous, a little up hill. The scenery in the canyon is spectacular.

I've been blessed to bike in some very pretty places (Chicago Lakefront, Acadia Carriage Trails, etc.) but this one may be the best. The ride is gorgeous. We had a few less experienced riders with us and we rode from the ranch to the Hanging...More

Hi, I can't seem to find any company renting bicycles (or the one-way shuttle) in November. Is it a seasonal activity?

It depends on weather. Once snow falls, you don't want to be riding a bike on the trail. Also, as the water rises in the Colorado River, the trail closes, as part of it becomes submerged in the river. Last year, the snow... More

We are looking to stsy in the area and bike the trail. Is there a place to stay where we can ride safely to the trailhead.

The trailhead is just a block or two from the Glenwood Hot Springs pool. If you stay on the east side of Glenwood, ie the Glenwood Hot Springs Lodge or even the Hotel Denver, it is very easy and safe access via bike.
