This trail will soon have limited access according to a sign at the trail-head. It is very strenuous, but so worth it.

This must do trail is one of the real gems our state has to offer. Parking is always a problem and if you’re in a hurry, don’t do this trail. It needs to be enjoyed and with most of it not conducive to two way...More

This hike has been on my bucket list for awhile. Those who are not acclimatized nor very active may find the hike challenging, but IT IS WORTH IT. Never hike beyond your safety level, but I would recommend this to rveryone! It is absolutely beautiful....More

Not only was the end of the trail a stunning lake view, but this entire hike is along a stream. Yes, it is steep and rocky, but there are benches and spots to rest if you need.

So worth it!! Go early and avoid the crowds. Wear good shoes and bring water. It’s step but doable and worth the effort.

The hike to Hanging Lake is not for rookies, but the reward is really with it. The lake is breathtaking. We did hear that the Forest Service was going to monitor more closely the traffic in and out due to a few bad apples -...More

Only about 1.2 miles each way. Marked every 1/4 mile. Steep pretty much all the way, but you can take it slowly. Parking is an issue, but consider biking from another exit. Daily access is soon to be limited to 650 per day and fee...More

We got there around 8am on Sunday and parking was no problem. Took it very slow and steady as I'm not in good shape cardio-wise. Lots of breaks! The trail is very strenuous, but clearly marked and with steps in places. You're not trying to...More

Wow is all I can say about this trail. Beautiful scenery and great hiking. This trail is best done in the morning because the sun hits this side of the mountain and makes it very hot in the afternoon. It is not a long hike,...More

It will be cold then, but pretty sure the trail is open year round. The surrounding weather and roads would be the only limitations if it has snowed a lot. Check the roads with CDOT. Any precipitation on the trail would... More

Typically it is open year-round except for certain days for trail maintenance. Wintertime would possibly require the right equipment such as crampons and proper boots, clothes and poles. Hanging Lake is part of the white... More
