Pioneer life in the hills and canyons near Golden was harsh, difficult, and not for the faint of heart. Most who survived in the beautiful, if inhospitable region, succeeded as farmers and ranchers. Relive the experience by exploring the blacksmith shop, log cabins, hay barn and root cellar. Visit with our heirloom-breed chickens and discover a buzzing beehive. On select days, interact with costumed interpreters who enliven the landscape with cooking and blacksmithing demonstrations. Step inside the one-room Guy Hill Schoolhouse and take a seat in a student’s desk, but don’t wisecrack to the school mistress!

We toured the morning after Mother Nature had covered her in a blanket of white. It was quiet, peaceful and the perfect way to tour the park. Not many buildings were open, but still provided a very good insight into early Golden. Combined with the...More

Nice walk through the historic cabins and buildings. There are brochures when you walk in. We enjoyed seeing the variety of live chickens.

We spent about an hour here. It is a path that wends along a collection of history buildings (most have been relocated) that tell the story of one family that came to Golden for mining and farming. You can't go into the buildings, just walk...More

Wondering what that log cabin is off the side of the road? Free parking - pull in, grab a brochure, take a slow walk around the 7 or so buildings that were relocated here, and read about these once functioning buildings! There are even live...More

This was a nice find as we walked through downtown Golden. We were able to use the brochures to learn a little bit about the history of the area. My sons really enjoyed the chickens! I liked seeing the gardens.

Nice little park. I know it's peak tourist season but there was trash in several places and the few cans were full. Needs a little attention.

I liked the chickens but the rest just seems sad and unkempt. It's a nice walk to get there, though.

$1 voluntary donation to enter. It was nice to see buildings from the late 1800s and peek into the rooms to see the furniture. It is an easy stroll. You would only need 30-60 minutes to check this place out. Kids would like to watch...More

Walking though the park on a Saturday used to almost guarantee that someone would be in one of the buildings sewing, cooking, or some activity. I have been though strolling a couple times since August, I have not had this experience any more. It makes me...More

I had some time to kill so I stopped to check out this history park. I was not disappointed. What a beautiful walk and interesting park. Unfortunately I stopped to early and none of the buildings were open but it was definitely worth the stop...More
