The Rusty Spurr Ranch offers non-nose-to-tail riding. Our guests are permitted, encouraged and given instruction on how to spread out and ride abreast instead of in a strict nose-to-tail fashion. We offer a variety of trail ride experiences, a 3-4 hour Cattle Drive and our all-in-one Saddle&Paddle activity providing the opportunity to ride and raft all in one day! We are centrally located to several top Colorado resorts. We are about an hour from Breckenridge, Steamboat and Winter Park, so wherever you stay you can easily enjoy a ride with us.

We signed up for the 4hr cattle drive and loved every minute of it. The staff were great and picked horses that suited each guests skill level. The horses were in great condition, healthy and fit. Much more rewarding to spend your trail ride with a purpose (in this case watering the cattle and shifting them to a new grazing... More

We came to the Rusty Spur for the Cattle Drive, from a neighboring guest ranch (Bar Lazy J) where we were staying for a week. My fiancé says if he had a bucket list, this would have been on it. We were there for the last drive, on the last day, of their season. Whatever expectations we had, this experience... More

Had a great time at Rusty Spur Ranch in Kremmling, CO. Not your normal nose to tail type outing. Both Tere and I felt quite at home and are looking forward to attending one of their trail rides in the future. Thank you Connie for being such a great guide.

Another September and another awesome day with great friends, sure-footed horses and terrific guides for our cattle drive at the Rusty Spurr Ranch. I've been coming to Rusty Spurr since 2005 and have introduced so many friends to the family run site. This year was a little spine tingling for me on our descent to look for cattle but we'll... I have been on many trail rides in various places, and this was one of the best. The guides were very friendly and sweet to the entire high school girls basketball team we went with. One of the best parts of this ride was the ability to make your own path and explore little paths near the main one. It... More

No nose- to -tail ride here. With the assistance of a wrangler you can explore the 1,000's of acres on the ranch. We had amazing views of the Rockies and Wyoming. We even went searching for lost cattle. The 3 hour ride was the highlight of our stay in Breckenridge. Our wrangler, Amanda, made sure we had a great time.... More

My husband and I (from PA) traveled a few western states for our 1 year wedding anniversary. I knew I wanted to horseback ride somewhere, and see the views. When I stumbled upon Rusty Spurr Ranch, we immediately booked a place to stay near by in Kremmling. This experience was nothing short of amazing. We took the 3 hour private... More

I took two cousins from the Netherlands on a cattle drive. Neither had ever been on a horse, but they are reasonably active and adventuresome. It took only a few minutes for them to get comfortable, and then they were able to ride and participate in the drive. Good horses, and Han is a great wrangler. This was probably the... More

My husband, 15-yr old son and I did the cattle drive over the weekend. We came to this activity with differing levels of riding experience, but we all had a blast! Han, the owner, is very knowledgeable, and makes sure to match you up with the right horse. He then takes the time to get to know everybody and check... More

I am a Chicago resident that went on the Cattle Drive at Rusty Spurr on Monday Sept. 5, 2016. I thought I knew what to expect based on the movie City Slickers!! Well, I will simply say the experience was a hoot! The cowboys, Han and Chuck, that guided my cattle drive were kind and considerate to me. I was... More
