You need to go there only if you have an 4x4 truck, not reccomended for cars... think they pass by this way with dilligence for post office... amazing

My first Jeep trail in Colorado! Starting out of Leadville was a rough ride but when I got to the top, decided to just keep goin'! Looped back on the highway through Breckenridge and hit the skatepark there. Great first day!

Super scary! We made it to the top and back without getting killed, but my son lost his ATV as it fell off the side of the mountain. If you enjoy the thrill, go for it. But, be careful!!!

There were some parts where I would have preferred to walk instead of staying in the car. Lots of hairpin turns. Took a long time but the trip was worth it in the end.

Mosquito Pass is a high mountain pass between Fairplay and Leadville that is rich in mining history. The trail itself is moderately difficult for stock 4x4 vehicles and can be dangerous, so should be travelled cautiously and never alone. Often the snow in the higher elevations does not clear until mid-summer, so the season for driving the pass is very... More

Have tried this pass twice always covered in snow, the road is really rough and I travel Colorado passes a lot. I suggest high clearance or jeep or atv. Not really an enjoyable pass like the San Juans. Lots of mines along the way.

Loved our drive today from Leadville to Alma- this is a gorgeous pass but needs a serious off road vehicle to do it safely- not a cloud in the sky, wildlife and great of mine scenery- love it!

Nice trip for a real 4wheel drive. Mining relics were especially interesting for the guys. Father Dyer's gravestone is at the top. Should read a bit of the history to appreciate it and read the signs. Fun to drive early and end in Leadville for breakfast/lunch.

Great trip over the pass. Wonderful views and history. Get the auto tour brochure from the forest service office before going. Requires good 4 wheel drive and skills.
