This once was an old hospital. Now turned into an amazing museum. 3 levels with a great video about the curse of the Hope diamond since it was once owned by a resident of Ouray. An amazing collection of colorful mineral rocks. Including a room...More

We just happened to "stumble" on this museum while walking the town. Shows history, settlement, mining, up to the current day. Great exhibits.

There are so many rooms and items to look at, it was difficult to take it all in during our short visit. Hope to return someday. Extensive mineral collection.

We read the other reviews and they were right - this humble mountain town museum is impressive and quite informative. Set in an old hospital building, there are 3 total floors. Each original hospital room contains a different subject and/or time. You can choose which...More

I was pleasantly surprised by the variety of exhibits in the three-floor museum and there should be something for anyone interested in the area's colorful history. The museum provides wonderful historical context for every relevant aspect of Ouray: mining, postal history, health care in the...More

The museum was very hot and not ventilated. The staff was not friendly. The items were interesting, but we couldn't take our time because of the temperature.
