The Ridgway Railroad Museum is a great place for any railroad "techie" to visit. GREAT memorabilia on the walls and wonderful self-guided tour lets you set your own pace. There is much to learn and enjoy!

Ok, so this is what you might expect but with some great surprises. Outdoor exhibit has original wagons from the beginning of the railway. Indoors is a great interpretive display with lots of photos, maps, artifacts and replicas. If you only have 15 minutes, don't miss this. You will want to spend some time here so tell the wife to... What a labor of love done by locals. Even though it is small, there is a lot to see. Very knowledgable staff.

Oops! Somebody goofed & posted the wrong picture! The building pictured is actually the home of the Grammy workshop. The RR Museum is located right at the SW corner of Hwy. 550 & 62. It is white with red trim.

Actually, it's in the process of being slowly and meticulously restored, that's why it's not on display right now. No matter. There is so much more to see at this free museum: photos, models, documents, actual RR cars, the jail wagon from True Grit and more! There is even a rare photograph of the Rockies' Pathfinder: Otto Mears, of toll... More

Very, very small, but some interesting history. We loved the old caboose. They have some projects in the works which may expand their collection by 2017. Note: Museum is housed in the Chamber of Commerce building, not the building pictured on TripAdvisor.

Stopping in Wednesday morning, June 29, 2016, we met the nicest gentleman managing the train museum. He explained the efforts they have made to get the new engine to come to their museum. They are building a cover for the whole train to better preserve their collection from the elements. They plan on demonstrating it there on their 300 feet... More

This is a small free museum that is easily accessible off the side of the road as soon as you enter Ridgway heading south on 550. They ask for donations to help maintain the museum. I have two young boys who enjoyed climbing into/on the trains and ringing the bell. There are plenty of information you can read and look... More

Ridgway was once a narrow gauge railroad hub between Ouray, Rico and Montrose. Now dedicated volunteers have restored stock and researched the history of this area. It's free (but be kind and leave a nice donation)! The story of the Galloping Goose is fascinating -- come and see.

Went there last summer looking at places in the original "True Grit". This is a nice place to pop in and explore, especially if you love trains.
