Government trail runs between Aspen and Snowmass Village. It's a fairly easy 9 mile walk compared to the hikes in town. It's a little of everything from heavily wooded to big views. A great way to spend a few hours.

great trail for all ages and abilities. Winds through the mountain and through wild flowers and aspen groves. I would consider it an easy downhill option

Ran this trail in the Golden Leaf half Marathon. Great trail, very scenic, but also very challenging especially when you are running it!

Decided to skip the Maroon Bells and crossed the street to get on a local Aspen Trail. It was much more interesting than expected and quite secluded. There is a huge canyon directly across from the Maroon Bells parking lot. You can't see it from...More

The Government trail is a favorite of mine. It crosses from Snowmass village to Aspen through Aspen forest, brooding deep stands of spruce, across streams and meadows. Along the way you'll likely encounter elk and other wildlife. Unfortunately you'll probably run into mountain bikers, often...More
