The Yampa River Core Trail is a seven mile, non-motorized multi-use trail that follows the meandering Yampa River from Dougherty Road through downtown Steamboat Springs to Bear River Park. Groves of cottonwood trees, excellent fishing, scenic overlook benches, and lovely picnic spots make this trail a great place for a leisurely stroll or a commuter route through town. Additionally, there are many parks and playgrounds and more miles of trail that can be accessed off of the Core Trail.

Took the bikes on this trip to Steamboat and road the trail several times. Got to watch some kayaks and saw a guy paddle board surfing the rapids. Early morning the trail is not so busy with walkers. Nice trail, hope they extend it

This is a perfect place to have a great walk, bike ride or run. The location along the Yampa River is great and you can get to other places either right on the trail or close by. we also saw an Osprey nest with babies.

Yes. Much of it is cleared. I wore YakTrax when I ran it, though.

We rented from Ski Haus. Easy access to the trail and not far from the Botanical Gardens. Be sure to use the coupon found in the Steamboat Guide. Available for free in many stores, hotels and fast food places.
