Depending on the route you take, it can be a leasurely stroll or a good work out. You wander through the mines of the late 1800's - early 1900's. Old Miners homes & lots of Headframes are scattered through the area. You get to see where so many people in the district worked before the wars shut down the gold... More

If you like poking around in old buildings and/or learning about mining history, this is a great stop! The trail is a 2 mile loop; it took us about 2 1/2 hours to complete it, but we were taking our time, nosing around in the old houses (some structures you can enter, others you can't), and taking lots of pictures.... This loop hike on gravel was well marked and highlighted with multiple abandoned gold mines in a 2 miles. In addition to mines there was an abandoned house, old explosive storage buildings and tons of history. This was a little strenuous to me due to the altitude but the family enjoyed it. Going through Victor watch out for the police... More

This is one of my favorite places in Teller County because I love history. And on this trail, history is right there in front of me. The 2-mile(ish) loop trail is extremely well maintained, wide with crushed gravel to walk on. The real gems on the trail are the structures for the Vindicator and the Theresa mines. The Vindicator sports... More

Nice trail and availability to be able to photograph this old mine and at the trailhead there is an information box with literature in it describing the area. Victor has quite a few mines you can drive around to. I would be attentive and obey the no tresspassing signs. This is a great look into the past history of the... More

This is a two mile hike that is a loop trail that goes by many old mines in the Gold Field mining district. As one reviewer said, bring water - the sun feels strong at this elevation. There are various story boards along the way - take as much time (or as little) to read and imagine. An awesome thing... More

This would be a good trail to take early in the day when it's cooler. In the afternoon it's pretty hot. Bring water definitely. It takes you by the old Vindicator Mine. Not sure how long it is. We didn't take the whole thing.

...to century-old mining equipment. A good place to start on this trail is at the entrance to the American Eagle Overlook. A ways up the road is a turnoff to the left where you'll see a head frame, an ore building, a couple of deserted buildings (one a house, one an office?). You're free to walk around and get fairly...
