I wouldn't go out of my way for this. The place is still in disarray and undergoing construction from a 2010 tornado. There is only one floor open (not even in the historic part) with only a couple interesting things. Sad to see the state it is in but the plans for how it will look in the future are... More

A tornado slammed through the Phineas Taylor Barnum museum in Bridgeport, Conn., in 2010, damaging the building and necessitating a multi-year renovation with a hoped-for completion in 2019 or 2020. BUT--you're in luck! One wing of the building, on Main Street, quite near the train station and the downtown area, is still open, and there is a free, delightful look-see... More

We traveled here just to see this place. Not thinking that we would need to check and see if they would be open during normal business hours, we get here and they are closed. We check out there hours on line and find they are only open 4 hours on Thursdays and Fridays. I understand that they had some damage... More

This place was hardly a museum before it was hit by a tornado which it still hasn't recuperated from 2.5 years later; front windows boarded up and very mediocre displays….. kind of insulting to one of the greatest showman of all times.

A wonderful museum - Lots of things to see and touch about the PT Barnum story. Very well presented with each new room a wonderful exploration. Don't be afraid to ask the staff a question - They are loaded with facts about the Circus and Barnum's life

Being in the area North of here, I decide to make a detour and check out Barnum: I have some mixed memories of my previous visit there, at least ten years ago: the exhibits and artifacts ranged from exciting through historical through pathetic. The funny thing is I mostly remember how worried I was about my car, parked in front... More

This place was a nice look into an amazing man....border line conman, but he delivered....the only issue I had was that the house should be restored by now. This can be so much more. Great exhibits. My kids, who I drag to places like this, we're interested in what was being said by the great tour guide we had. Just... More

In 2010 the Barnum Museum was hit by a toronado-no one else in town, just the Prince of hoaxes I think he would appreciate the irony. while they are rebuilding, you have access to their viewable storage area. Many pieces of furniture-esp from Charles and Lavinia,a few smaller circus wagons, many carriages, paintings &,statuary. The latest acquisition-which arrived on 1... More
