The trails for the most part are well marked and maintained. Same thing goes for the park. The bathrooms however are to be avoided. The mansion is okay but appears to be a little run down and dated. The park is the strength of this...More

Came here for my stepson's wedding. The grounds and mansion are well maintained and beautiful. I cannot say enough about the staff- friendly, professional, organized, and guest-oriented. During the dinner service, we were looking for some hot water for my mother, who has a sensitivity...More

The mansion and grounds are wonderful. I went here for author readings sponsored by the Western Connecticut State University MFA Writing program, and it was a terrific setting.

A good choice of hikes with a good level of challenge which we really enjoyed. However, the toilets were the most revolting ones I have seen in a very long time. Surely they can do better than temporary cabins with smelly, unflushed toilets, which must...More

My daughter had her wedding at the mansion and it was delightful. The setting was so lovely and not hideously expensive.

Yes, it is free to go and hike or walk. The park closes at sundown. You do not have to be a resident to enter the park. You can picnic there, last I knew. There is a possibility that bears are around, but I have not seen any.

On a sunny day, this would be lovely for a picnic. You may need to take a blanket as I dont recall a lot of tables and chairs BUT it is a nice place for a family picnic
